After participating in the TASB webinar, Superintendent McKinney contacted Joy Baskin, TASB Director of Legal Services at TASB regarding some questions about the process. With the information gathered the past two weeks, it is necessary to revise the timeline to ensure that we follow the process but also take time to ensure that our Innovation Plan truly meets the goals of our district.
The revised timeline is as follows:
DISTRICT OF INNOVATION TIMELINE (updated 12-8-2016)
November 9, 2016
Board takes action to adopt Resolution to seek District of Innovation status. Public hearing held to explain and discuss possibility. Board appoints Innovation committee.
November 16, 2016
Innovation committee meets to discuss plan.
By December 8, 2016
Innovation committee holds public meeting and votes to approve plan by this date.
Plan posted on PAISD website.
December 14, 2016
Board takes action to notify TEA of its intention to vote on the proposed plan.
December 14, 2016
Board takes action to authorize Superintendent to notify TEA at the appropriate time of their intention to adopt an Innovation Plan.
January 11, 2017
Board votes on final plan (⅔ vote required)
January 18, 2017
Work on draft of plan. (This is a regularly scheduled DWEIC meeting)
Determine if future meetings are necessary.
By February 8, 2017
Post final draft of plan on PAISD website. Superintendent notifies TEA of intent to adopt Innovation Plan.
March 8, 2017
Board agenda - consider/take possible action to approve Innovation Plan.
The DWEIC/Innovation Committee will meet on January 18, 2017 at 3:30pm in the PAISD Administration Building Board Room. All meetings are open to the public.
